Tourists in Brazil thought they were being kind when they threw food scraps to a stray dog living behind a gas station. However, the unhealthy diet ballooned the poor pup to a startling weight of 80 pounds.
By the time Animal Protection Organization came to his rescue last September, the dog known as Bohlina was so obese that he could hardly move. Every breath was a struggle for the desperate animal.
Bohlina the dog had lived his whole life in squalid conditions behind a remote gas station. With no human or animal companionship, his only comfort was food.

At 80 pounds, however, Bohlina was having trouble breathing and walking. Without a serious lifestyle change, he would surely die.

First thing’s first, he needed a nice, hot bath — quite possibly the first bath of his life! Judging by that smile, he adored it!

Then Bohlina began a strict exercise regime. By walking on a treadmill submerged in water, he was able to shed the pounds without risking damage to his sensitive joints.

It was difficult to get used to a new diet, but the love of humans sure did help!

Soon, Bohlina began to lose a TON of weight!

Today, Bohina has lost over 30 pounds. His caregivers are hoping that he can lose another 15.
