Also known as the Festival of Lights, the Tazaungdaing Festival is a yearly tradition in Myanmar used to celebrate the end of the rainy season.
While the spectacle of paper lanterns and large balloons can be beautiful, this particular festival went haywire real quick. Whoever thought that setting off homemade fireworks in such close vicinity ofthe paper balloons was clearly a genius, because what could possibly go wrong when there’s paper and fire involved?
As the elaborate fireworks show begins, one rocket goes a little off course and sends one of the giant balloons flying, smoking as floats away.Hundreds of spectators can be seen running for their lives in the explosive aftermath.
